MUMBAI: Britain-based singer Kamaal Khan, who was in the back seat of Salman Khan’s Toyota Land Cruiser when the actor rammed his vehicle into people sleeping on pavement in Mumbai in 2002 and killed one person, has been in the news after the verdict in the case as he was never examined as a witness during the trial.
The UK singer had given a statement to police in which he had said that Salman Khan was driving the Toyota Land Cruiser that killed one person and injured four near the American Express bakery in Bandra.
Now Kamaal Khan’s girlfriend and former actress Shilpi Sharma has come out with a sensational disclosure about the singer whom she had met in 2004 during the shooting of Rahul Rawail’s film Jo Bole So Nihaal and entered into a live-in relationship with him.
Shilpi tells Mumbai Mirror that she moved in with Kamaal Khan in 2006 and then he disappeared overnight in 2008 from Mumbai by selling his Oshiwara flat, leaving her high and dry.
“He used to be disturbed about the (Salman Khan) case. He’d get agitated if I mentioned the hit-and-run case, so I never probed. I got to know him two years after the incident and the unspoken rule was that we’d never talk of it,” Shilpi, who is now a DJ, told Mirror.
“We fought but there was an attempt to maintain stability. But one day, late in 2008, I woke up to find that Kamaal was gone. I was shocked! It took me days, even months, to come to terms with the fact. I haven’t been in a relationship since though my parents now insist that I should get married,” she has quoted as saying.
Shilpi says his disappearance is “as big a mystery to me as it is to anyone else. I hope he’s living a happy life. I’m trying to.’’
Just to refresh readers’ memory, Kamaal Khan sang the famous song Oh O Jaane Jaana and below is the video of this song.
