BOLLYWOOD: Pooja Bhatt, who created headlines as a Bollywood actress with her bold scenes during her heyday, is also known as a pathbreaking filmmaker who has produced some great films with women in the lead role.
Pooja has also been a groundbreaking filmmaker in the sense that she has paid women actors more than their male counterparts in her films.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Pooja has revealed why she paid Kajol more than Sanjay Dutt for her film Dushman.
Similarly, she explains why she paid Bipasha Basu more than John Abraham for Jism and Sunny Leone more than Randeep Hooda for Jism 2 respectively.
“When I made Dushman, I cast Kajol first and she was paid more than Sanjay Dutt in that movie because it was her film. So, for me, it was always about the fact, that it is the role that decides how much somebody takes home. It’s not about a man or a woman in that sense. When I made Jism series, John was new, he was being launched, so Bipasha got paid a lot more than him. And even with Jism 2, while casting Sunny Leone, there was a sizeable amount of money that I gave her that Randeep Hooda till date cribs about,” Pooja said in the interview.
After a long break from acting, Pooja Bhatt will soon be seen on the silver screen in the web series Bombay Begums for Netflix.
