MUMBAI: Sizzling South Indian actress Laxmi Raai, who was once in a relationship with Indian cricket captain Mohinder Singh Dhoni, doesn’t want their relationship to be shown in the upcoming bio-pic of Dhoni.
The biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, which releases on September 30, also features Dhoni’s romantic link-ups, including his relationship with the late Priyanka Jha and others.
Dhoni got into a relationship with Laxmi Raai during the 2008 season of the Indian Premier League when Rai was the brand ambassador for Chennai Super Kings which Dhoni captained.
Later, Dhoni married Shakshi Rawat in 2010.
The actress hopes “there is nothing in the film about me…no girl wants to be tagged with someone forever.’’
The actress says, “We were together for less than a year. We had never committed to each other and never thought of getting married either, so I don’t understand why people would talk about us.’’
She says she hasn’t been in touch with Dhoni since their break-up.
“We felt sorry for each other but we’ve not been in touch ever since. There needs to be a full stop to all these baseless link-ups now… it’s been eight years that chapter got over for me,’’ ’’ says the actress about her relationship with Dhoni.
Rai admits there was “an indirect approach’’ from the filmmakers “to know the story from my side but I have not given any such consent so they cannot claim a relationship existed unless they take names in the film.’’
She says, “It’s really difficult for me to handle this, especially when I am seeing someone else. Maybe it was a different combination of an actress dating a cricketer, it created the best gossip.’’
