MUMBAI: Priyanka Chopra is fast carving out a place for herself in American films as quite a few of her films are in the pipeline.
The actress, who will be next seen in the American superhero film ‘We Can be Heroes’ and Netflix’s adaption of Aravind Adiga novel ‘The White Tiger’, has just been cast in Sony Pictures’ upcoming romantic drama ‘Text For You’.
She has been cast alongside Celine Dion and Sam Heughan in this new movie which is an English-language remake of the 2016 German film ‘SMS Fur Dich’. The film is based on German writer Sofie Cramer’s novel titled ‘SMS Fur Dich’.
In the film, Priyanka plays a woman who has lost her fiance. As she comes to terms with her loss, the grieving woman keeps sending romantic texts to her fiance’s old cellphone.
But as she finds out, the old phone number has been assigned to another man – played by Sam Heughan – who too has suffered a heartbreak.
The two grieving people meet and an uneasy bond develops between them as they still are weighed down by their past.
Celine Dion’s music soothes the way for a new romance to blossom between the two souls bonded by grief.
The film will be written and directed by Jim Strouse.
Priyanka’s two other American films – The Matrix 4 and Citadel – are also in production.
