MUMBAI: Does Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who has been criticized and trolled for his so-called apolitical TV interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the midst of ongoing parliament elections, have any political ambitions just like so many celebrities who are contesting these elections for the BJP and the opposition Congress party?
Akshay has been slammed by critics who say he conducted this `soft’ interview to help the Prime Minister’s party in the elections. He has also been slammed for holding a Canadian passport but preaching to Indians about whom they should vote.
Though nothing can said about the actor’s future ambitions, he is on record having said in the past that he is not a political person. At the time of the 2014 elections he had said that he was offered a ticket by a political party to contest but he `politely’ said `no.’
“I won’t lie. I was offered a ticket but I won’t name the party…If I had contested on any party ticket, I would have ended up taking a stand. I didn’t want to do that simply because I am so not a political person,” the actor said.
