NEW DELHI: When 63-year-old Narendra Modi takes oath of India’s 14th prime minister on May 26, the man who once lived in a simple single room in Delhi as a RSS pracharak would have come a long way.
His new address in the Indian capital would not be a single room in an MP’s quarter that he was given as RSS pracharak in the 1990s. Modi will be the new occupant of India’s most famous address: 7 Race Course.
7 Race Course, his official residence, is spread over 12 acres and comprises 5 bungalows to house him and his staff and security.
A simple pracharak who once roamed freely, Modi will now have layers of security manned by the Gujarat police, National Security Guards (NSG) and Special Protection Group (SPG).
Prime Minister Modi’s office will be Room Number 151, South Block, where he will be assisted by hundreds top bureaucrats and staff general.
Modi’s salary as PM will be Rs. 1.6 lakh per month. His salary comprises Rs 50,000 as basic, Rs 62,000 as daily allowance, Rs 45,000 as MP allowance and Rs 3,000 as sumptuary allowance.
He will also have his own cavalcade and a special jet. What a life!
Modi, who led the BJP and its 10 allies to win 335 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, was formally elected leader of the BJP parliamentary party in Delhi. BJP president Rajnath Singh said Modi will take oath as prime minister on May 26.
Over 3,000 people will be invited for the swearing-in ceremony, Rajnath Singh said.
