NEW DELHI: In yet another disgraceful incident of India’s VIP culture in which VIPs exploit their subordinates, a West Bengal minister was caught on camera making his bodyguard to tie his shoelaces.

This shameless spectacle was seen at a function at the state secretariat in Kolkata in memory of sculptor Ramkinkar Baij.

Rachhpal Singh, a retired Indian Police Service officer who is currently minister for planning and development in the West Bengal government, had come to the event.

When he came out after paying respects to Baiji, Singh disgraced himself by asking his bodyguard to tie his shoelaces.

Soon, the video of the security guard tying this minister’s shoelaces went viral on television networks.

Such incidents of Indian VIP culture are common occurrences in the corridors of power where ministers, bureaucrats and police officers behave like British colonial masters to use their juniors and subordinates for menial jobs.

This culture is rampant in the bureaucracy and police where subordinates are used to do household chores, run errands, wash clothes, etc.
In a similar incident caught on camera some time ago, Agra Superintendent of Police B.N. Tiwari getting his shoelaces tied.

The worst is the police because officers are come from educated middle-classes, while cops comes from least educated rural backgrounds. To get recruited as a cop, they have to huge bribes. Once they are recruited, these cops indulge in the worst forms of sycophancy to keep police officers happy.

The least that West Bengal chief minister Mamata Bannerjee should do is kick the ass of this minister and throw him out.
