NEW DELHI: As the construction work on the Ram temple for Hinduism’s prime deity Lord Ram begins on August 5 with the bhoomi pujan (ground-breaking) ceremony in Ayodhya, the city railway station is also set to wear temple-themed look with world-class facilities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start the ground-breaking (bhoomi poojan) ceremony of the Ram temple, which will begin with the shovelling the earth amid chanting of mantras. A 22.60-kg brick made of pure silver will be used for the bhoomi poojan ceremony.
As Ayodhya is set to become the Hindu holiest city with the building of the Ram temple, pilgrimage to the temple town is set to multiply.
Keeping in view the rush of the devotees, Indian Railways – the biggest employer in the country – has started building a temple-themed, world-class railway station to welcome pilgrims to the Hindu holy city.
“The holy city of Ayodhya, embellished with the footsteps of Lord Rama, has supernatural importance, and in view of this importance of this city in the future, the railways is modernizing the Ayodhya railway station,” says an Indian Railway statement.
The Ayodhya railway station modernization will cost Rs 104 crore (Rs 1004 million).
To be completed by 2021, the new Ayodhya railway station will offer state-of-the-art facilities to pilgrims.
There will be a new station building, with main three platforms, bigger ticket counters and waiting rooms.
Apart from a special guesthouse and air-conditioned restrooms, the new railway station will have 17-bed male and 10-bed female dormitories with toilets. The railway station will also have a food plaza and an auditorium.
The railways statement said, “The holy land of faith, devotion and spirituality and dignity, Purushottam Lord Ram’s holy place Ayodhya has been the focal point of devotion and faith in the middle of the world since ages.
“Due to this importance, the railway station of Ayodhya city also holds a special place for Indian Railways… the railways are in the process of providing high-class infrastructural facilities, passenger amenities, cleanliness, beauty and various desired facilities with high-quality standards in Ayodhya railway station.”
