MISSISSAUGA: Two Brampton Indo-Canadian men have arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Paviter Singh Bassi on March 19.
While Karanvir Singh Bassi, 22, was arrested a day after the crime, Guryodh Singh Khattra, 22, was taken into custody on Marhc 21.
Both appeared at the Ontario court of Justice in Brampton for their bail hearing.
According to Peel Police, the 21-year-old victim was found with life-threatening injuries on March 19 when cops responded to an assault taking place on the grounds of Sandalwood Heights Secondary School in the area of Sandalwood Parkway East and Cedarcliff Trail in Brampton in the evening. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
The victim with severe head injuries was rushed to a Toronto Trauma Centre, but he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, March 20.
Police are seeking help from witnesses or anyone who may have information about the assault as more suspects are expected in the case.
This is the eighth case of homicide in Peel Region.
