BRAMPTON: Peel Police have arrested a 67-year-old Indo-Canadian man in connection with four incidents of sexual assault in Brampton since 2016.

The accused has been identified as Somchandbhai Prajapati of Brampton who was arrested on Thursday, December 7.

He has been charged with sexually assaulting four women at grocery stores in Brampton over a period of 15 months.

According to police, Prajapati sexually assaulted a 30-year-old woman on August 16, 2016, when she was unloading her groceries into her car in the parking lot of a grocery store in the area of Airport Road and North Park Drive in Brampton.

His second sexual assault took place on April 2 this year when he targeted a 55 year-old woman.

On October 31 this year, he sexually assaulted a 38-year-old woman who was shopping in a grocery store in the area of Mountainash Road and Bovaird Drive in Brampton.

His latest victim was a 72-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted on November 28 when she was carrying her groceries in the parking lot of a grocery store in the area of Mountainash Road and Bovaird Drive in Brampton.

Police suspect that there could more women who might have been targeted by Prajapati. They have been asked to contact police.

The accused has been described as South Asian, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds, with short grey receding hair and beard.

Brampton is home to the second largest concentration of the Indo-Canadian community after Surrey in British Columbia.
