TORONTO: The annual Canada’s Walk of Fame ceremony welcomed a mix of talent across film, music, law and sport.
This year’s inductees included actor Ryan Reynolds, actress Rachel McAdams, hockey player Hayley Wickenheiser and former justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and musicians The Band and Jeff Healey (awarded to him posthumously and accepted by his father and sister).
Each received their place on the pavement in the presence of two members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on Front Street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Besides the inductees there were other stars such as Jason Priestley of the popular TV show 90210 who hosted the event, veteran rocker Ronnie Hawkins of The Hawks and mentor of The Band, Robbie Robertson and Garth Hudson of The Band, legendary actor Peter Fonda best known for his mega hit counter culture movie ‘Easy Rider’ and several other well known celebrities.
Ryan Reynolds (well known for his portrayal of the main protagonist in the movie ‘Green Lantern’ based on a popular DC comics hero) and Jason Priestley sent all the girls and women wild with every last one wanting the modern autograph- a selfie – which both very pleasantly obliged to all their fans.
The legendary actor Peter Fonda, younger brother of Jane Fonda and son of Henry Fonda, was the darling of the fans. Besides hitting the big time in the 60s with the movie ‘Easy Rider’ which even had a following in India, he is famous for recounting the story of how he had seen death.
Early in his life he had shot himself in the stomach accidentally and was sent to Nainital in India, where he says the clean air, healing surroundings and caring people nursed him back to life. He then recounted the incident to The Beatles telling them he knows ‘what it means to be dead’. That spawned the Beatles’ song ‘She said She said ‘ on the album Revolver.
However, what brought the house down was Rachel McAdams as she walked down the yellow carpet looking uber gorgeous in a Zuhair Murad creation. Both men and women went wild as she strutted her stuff.
They all then disappeared into the Sony Theatre for the Performing Arts on Front Street where the gala evening was to take place.
