MISSISSAUGA: The co-owner of three body tanning salons in the Greater Toronto Area, who was arrested on April 19 for sex assaults on two women clients, now faces three additional charges of sex assaults.
Peel Police say three more women have come forward to say that they were the victims of sex assaults by Gary Edwards, 44, who is the co-owner and operator of Tanned Bodies which has three locations in the Greater Toronto Area.
He was arrested on April 19 after a 29-year-old woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by him at Tanned Bodies salon at 3050 Confederation Parkway in Mississauga on April 10. The victim was sexually assaulted by him during the tanning session. She contacted police after leaving the salon.
The accused had also sexually assaulted another 23-year-old woman during the tanning session at the same salon on June 12, 2016.
Gary Edwards was charged with two counts of sexual assaults after his arrest.
Now three more women have come forward to tell police that Gary Edwards sexually assaulted them at his salon over a period of time.
The first new complainant is a 19-year-old woman who says she was sexually assaulted by Gary Edwards during tanning session when she went to Tanned Bodies located at 732 Lakeshore Road East in Mississauga.
The second new victim is an 18 year-old woman who says she too was sexually assaulted when she attended the accused’s residence for a tanning session.
The third new victim of Gary Edwards’ sex assault is an 18-year-old woman who was employed at Tanned Bodies located at 592 Rathburn Road West between December and March of 2017. She says Gary Edwards sexually assaulted her during her employment.
Police suspect there might be more victims of his sexual assaults and have asked them to come forward.
