BRAMPTON: A 24-year-old south Asian man surrendered on June 19 after Peel Regional Police released a video of him sexually assaulting a young woman on June 1.
Police said Anirudha Nayagam of Brampton turned himself in the same day the video showing him attacking a woman outside a apartment building was released.
The accused attacked the 23-year-old woman in the area of Kings Cross Road and Knightsbridge Road in Brampton with her child at about 7.45 pm on June 1.
The accused first approached the woman when she was in a convenience store and tried to engage her in a conversation. But the woman walked away with her child.
Anirudha Nayagam followed her in his silver vehicle. Then he ran up to her and sexually assaulted her as the woman’s frightened child watched it all from a distance.
The accused then got into his vehicle and fled off.
Before releasing the video of the sexual attack, Peel Regional Police had also released three pictures of the man to seek help from the public to identify him.
