NEW DELHI: Twitter on Sunday blocked the account of Indo-Canadian Punjabi singer Jazzy B.
It is one of the four accounts blocked by Twitter at the request of the Indian government.
India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had given a “final notice” to Twitter on Saturday to comply with its new rules unveiled in February.
Jazzy B has been tweeting in support of the ongoing farmers’ agitation which is seeking repeal of three farm laws enacted last year. Like many Punjabi singers, Jazzy B too had in December joined the agitating farmers camping on the borders of Delhi.
Twitter says it has blocked four accounts in India to comply with a new legal request from the Indian government over the weekend, according to Tech Crunch.
The accounts are accessible from outside of India.
