Brampton Indo-Canadians – Ikjot Singh and Jasdeep Singh– had stolen the vehicle from a driveway when it was left to warm up by its owner

BRAMPTON: Two Brampton Indo-Canadians – Ikjot Singh and Jasdeep Singh – have been arrested and charged with ramming a stolen vehicle into two police cruisers in Mississauga.
Just after noon on Sunday, January 3, officers from 12 Division of Peel Police were trying to investigate a vehicle in the area of Britannia Road East and Dixie Road in Mississauga when the driver of the vehicle rammed into two police cruisers before it fled the area.
Officers located the vehicle and with the assistance of the Peel Regional Police K9 unit, the driver, Ikjot Singh, 21, was taken into custody. Jasdeep Singh, 23, was taken into custody from the scene of the collision.
The two Indo-Canadian men had stolen the vehicle from a residence in Brampton on December 1 when the vehicle was left in the driveway by its owner to warm up.
While Ikjot Singh has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, fleeing from officers, dangerous driving, failure to stop after the accident, driving while impaired by drugs, Jasdeep Singh faces two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
Peel Regional Police have cautioned people while warming up their vehicle:
- Don’t leave a running vehicle unattended
- Always lock car doors and roll up windows
- Consider using anti-theft devices
- Remember to lock your garage door
