The accused assaulted three persons with a hammer at two residences and fled in a stolen vehicle

MISSISSAUGA: Manpreet Singh, a 33-year-old man from Brampton, has been arrested from the Malton gurdwara for allegedly assaulting three persons with a weapon and hijacking a car in Brampton on Monday morning.
According to Peel Police, the accused went to a residence in the area of Woodward Avenue and Centre Street North in Brampton at about 3.50 am on Monday morning. After an argument with two persons at the residence, he attacked them with a hammer and then fled the area. The victims didn’t sustain any injury.
A little later at about 5.30 am, the accused entered a running vehicle in the area of Bovaird Drive and Mountainash Road in Brampton.
When the owner of the vehicle returned to his car, the accused pointed what was believed to be a firearm in the victim’s direction, which was later confirmed to be a hammer. He then fled the area in the stolen vehicle.
At about 8 am, the stolen vehicle was located at the Sri Guru Singh Sabha (Malton gurdwara), in the area of Derry Road and Airport Road in Mississauga.
The accused was seen entering the gurdwara. Police searched the building and arrested Manpreet Singh.
He has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, robbery, breach of probation, and fail to comply with court order.
Police said it is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.
