CHANDIGARH: Brampton-based Snover Dhillon, who runs Canadian Sath TV and Radio Show, has been named the mastermind behind the murder of international kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambia.
Sandeep was gunned down on March 14 at Mallian village in Jalandhar district by five unidentified assailants during an ongoing kabaddi match.
Though the five shooters have not been arrested yet, Punjab Police have taken in custody four history-sheeters for their role in the crime.
Those arrested are Fateh Singh of Sangrur, Kaushal Chaudhary of Gurugram, Amit Dagar of Maheshpur Palvan village in Haryana, and Simranjeet Singh alias Jujhar Singh alias gangster of Madhopur village in Pilibhit in UP.
Punjab Police have taken them in custody on production warrant from different jails.
According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP VK Bhawra, Fateh Singh allegedly named Brampton-based Snover Dhillon as the mastermind behind the murder.
The DGP said Snover Dhillon allegedly wanted top kabaddi players to join his newly formed National Kabaddi Federation of Ontario.
But since most top players were already associated with Sandeep Nangal Ambia’s Major League Kabaddi, Fateh Singh allegedly told the police that Dhillon was pressuring them to join his federation.
Fateh Singh allegedly confessed that Snover Dhillon instructed him to eliminate Sandeep Nangal Ambia. He said he and Amit Dagar, Kaushal Chaudhary, Jagjit Singh, Lucky Patiyal and Sukha Duneke arranged shooters to gun down Sandeep.
Apart from Snover Dhillon, Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha Duneke alias Sukh Singh who also lives in Canada, and Jagjit Singh alias Gandhi who lives in Malaysia, have been named two other conspirators in the murder.
The police allegedly seized 18 live cartridges and a 12 bore rifle from a house in Pritam Enclave in Amritsar where the shooters took shelter after the crime. Swaran Singh, the house owner who is absconding, has also named as an accused in the case.
