MISSISSAUGA: Four car thieves from Quebec have been arrested for stealing high-end cars such as Lexus and Toyota Highlanders from Mississauga over a period of time.
According to Peel Police, it has investigated over 80 stolen vehicles since October alone.
The modus operandi of the thieves was to visit residential driveways and copy software from the vehicle by using a device.
They would use the stolen car software to create key fobs and then come back to steal the vehicles.
The four thieves were arrested on November 22 when at about 7.55 pm when they were found in an Audi A4. They were all arrested, after stealing a Lexus RX350.
Multiple key fobs and a master key (used to reprogram key fobs) were found in their possession.
Darick Cruz-Reyes, 20, from Montreal, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possessing automobile master key, and fail to comply with release order. He is under arrest pending his bail plea.
Carlos Aponte-Majia, 21, from Montreal, has also been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and possessing automobile master key. He was released on an undertaking and will attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on February 5.
Arzaan Khan, 18, from Montreal, also faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime, possessing automobile master key, use forged document, and possession of an identity document.
A 17-year-old male from Longueil has also been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possessing automobile master key, and obstruct police.
