BOLLYWOOD: The Kapoor family of Bollywood is set to launch their fifth-generation star.
Samaira, 15, who is actress Karisma Kapoor’s daughter, will join in the footsteps of her great great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor, great grandfather Raj Kapoor and grandfather Randhir Kapoor.
Samaira, who is still finishing her education, is reportedly very keen about joining the Bollywood bandwagon.
“She will finish her formal education and proceed for training in acting to a reputed acting school before being launched in Bollywood,’’ writes noted film journalist Subhash K Jha.
Launching her in films won’t be a problem as the famous film producer Karan Johar, who is brother to Karisma and her sister Kareena, would be happy to oblige, writes Jha.
Samaira was born in 2005. She also has a brother named Kiann born in 2010.
Samaira is Karisma’s daughter with industrialist Sanjay Kapur who is the grandson of the late industrialist Raunaq Singh. The two married in a Sikh ceremony in 2003 at the Kapoor family’s ancestral house in Mumbai. However, the marriage soon ran into problems and after years of bickering the two divorced in 2016.
Karisma started her first relationship with actor Ajay Devgn in 1992. They broke up in 1995. Later, she was also engaged to actor Abhishek Bachchan, but called it off after a few months.
Indian cinema completes 107 years of its existence this year and the Kapoor family has been part of this industry for over 88 years, getting the title of the First Family of Indian cinema.
Karisma’s great great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor, who was born in 1906 and started his acting career in Lyallpur and Peshawar in the 1920s, moved to Bombay in 1928. He reportedly took a loan from his aunt to finance his journey and stay in Bombay. Joining the Imperial Film Company, Prithviraj got his first acting role as an extra in the film Do Dhari Talwar (Two-edged Sword). Quickly, he landed his first lead role in the 1929 film Cinema Girl. The Kapoor family has not looked back since.
Currently, Ranbir Kapoor is the fourth generation and the only male from the famous family in films today.
