BOLLYWOOD: In the ongoing storm in Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday hit back at actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan who on Tuesday slammed her for calling the film industry a ‘gutter.’
The `gutter’ remark about Bollywood was made by Kangana Ranaut a few days ago, adding that 99 percent working in Bollywood dealt with drugs.
Not pleased with the ‘gutter’ remark, Jaya Bachchan took Kangana to task in Parliament on Tuesday, saying, “People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. People who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree. I hope that the government tells such people not to use this kind of language. Jis thali mein khate hai, usme chhed karte hai. Galat baat hai (biting the hand that feeds you. That’s wrong).”
Hitting back at Jaya Bachchan on Wednesday, Kangana tweeted, “What thali (plate) is Jaya referring to? The one that was offered to me to appear in a two-minute role, a romantic scene, item numbers, and that too after sleeping with the hero? I taught the industry feminism, decorated the thali with patriotic films, this is my own plate Jaya ji, not yours.”
The storm in Bollywood, sparked by the alleged suicide of young actor Sushant Singh Rajput last month, has led celebrities to trade charges.
Kangana Ranaut has been in the forefront of tirade against the so-called “movie mafia”, which, she says, has ruined the careers of outsiders like her and Sushant Singh Rajput.
Kangana has singled out filmmaker Karan Johar, tweeting two weeks ago, “Karan Johar the main culprit of movie mafia! @PMOIndia even after ruining so many lives and careers he is roaming free no action taken against him, is there any hope for us? After all is settled, he and his gang of hyenas will come for me.”
