MUMBAI: India’s #metoo campaigner and Telugu actress Sri Reddy, who on Saturday staged a nude protest at the offices of the Movie Artists Association (MAA) in Hyderabad to highlight sexual exploitation of girls in the film industry, has been asked by her landlord to vacate her house.
“My owner called me and told to vacate my house, what a great people..he is working as an IAS ..such a narrow-minded people,” Sri Reddy tweeted a day after her protest which drew condemnation and praise from different sections of the public and the film industry.

The bold actress said, “This is the only way I can get them to listen to me. I have had to strip myself nude in front of several people in the film industry who promised work. Yet, I got no roles. I have been shouting from the rooftops about the injustice that has been meted out to me and to several other women in the film industry and yet, I have not got any response from MAA. So I decided to strip publicly.’’
However, the Movie Artistes’ Association (MAA) dismissed her `nude protest’ as `cheap publicity stunt’.
MAA president Sivaji Raja said, `We are always here to help people from the industry. In fact, we have helped a lot of women who have faced problems and have punished people they had complained against. I spoke to Sri Reddy and had told her that we are there for her if she faced any issue. However, instead of coming to us, she went on to social media and tried to gain cheap publicity.”

But the actress said she didn’t strip herself to get roles in the films, adding that she was not interested in any films and would fight till sex predators in the film industry are not curbed.
“I will not stop until CM (chief minister) KCR himself takes notice of this and puts an end to this menace once and for all and make the Telugu industry a safe place for women,” said Sri Reddy.
