BRAMPTON: Iconic musician Tom Cochrane and young Tyler Shaw will perform at Brampton’s day-long Canada Day celebrations at Chinguacousy Park on July 1.
Tyler Shaw will open the entertainment part of the celebrations at 7.15 pm. Cochrane will perform at 8.30 pm.
Fireworks at 10 pm will be the finale of the celebrations.
An Oakville resident, Cochrane needs no introduction. Apart from being honoured with the Order of Canada and inducted into Canadian Music Hall of Fame, he has won eight Juno awards, the 2013 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award and a Grammy nomination.
Starting his career from the coffeehouses of Toronto’s Yorkville in the early 1970s, the singer and songwriter became the driving force with the adventurous rockers Red Rider.
He got a major breakthrough in 1991 with his second solo album Mad Mad World, with the hit song Life Is A Highway.
Chinese-Canadian Tyler Shaw is a platinum-selling artist, producer and actor who came to the limelight with his song Kiss Goodnight in 2012, hitting platinum sales.
In 2014, Tyler was nominated for a Juno for ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year.’ He then released certified gold tracks House of Cards and Wicked from his 2015 debut album Yesterday.
Tyler has also opened for Shawn Mendes and Alessia Cara and toured with Selena Gomez. He was also seen in the lead role in the feature film The Meaning of Life, released in 2017.
