Mehkash Sohal, 18, of Brampton charged with carjacking

BRAMPTON: Mehkash Sohal, an 18-year-old Brampton Indo-Canadian, has been arrested and charged with carjacking.

According to Peel Police, the accused targeted a woman who was unloading groceries from her vehicle in the driveway of her residence in the area of Chinguacousy Road and Charolais Boulevard in Brampton at about 6.30 pm on April 30, 2021.

The suspect approached the victim and tried to engage her in conversation before assaulting her woman and stealing the vehicle.

He dragged the woman a short distance within the driveway, before she fell to the ground. The suspect then reversed the stolen vehicle over the victim’s lawn onto the roadway, and fled from the area.

The Brampton carjacking victim was rushed to hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Her stolen vehicle was recovered by police a short time after the incident took place.

On May 5, investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau arrested and charged Mehkash Sohal with robbery.
