MISSISSAUGA: A woman from Hamilton has been arrested for fraudulently getting three puppies from Mississauga by giving fake cheques to the sellers.
According to Peel Police, the accused Dejanay General, 22, went to two addresses in Mississauga on March 8 and 9 in response to online ads for sale of puppies.
In all three cases, she provided personal cheques to purchase the puppies in excess of $3000 each. But when the sellers went to cash the cheques, they found that they had been cancelled.
Investigators tracked the accused to a residence in St. Catherine’s on March 26 and located all three puppies safe and sound.
Dejanay General of Hamilton was arrested and charged with three counts of fraud under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, and fail to comply with release order.
Police also arrested Khalid Ali, 20, and Jacob Bell, 23, from St. Catherine’s and charged them with possession of property obtained by crime. They will attend court at a later date.
