TORONTO: Yet one more Indo-Canadian smuggler has been arrested for drug trafficking.
This time, it is Calgary truck driver Kuldeep Singh, 39, who has been arrested for trying to smuggle 21 kg of cocaine from America into Canada through the Alberta border crossing at Coutts.
In a statement, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said Kuldeep Singh was arrested on December 17 for smuggling 17 bricks of suspected cocaine with a total weight of 21 kg.

When CBSA officers at the Coutts border crossing in Alberta intercepted a commercial vehicle hauling produce from California and destined for an Alberta business, they uncovered the 17 bricks of suspected cocaine weighing 21 kg. The bricks were located in a closet area within the cab.
Kuldeep Singh was arrested and handed over to the RCMP. He has been charged on four counts under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Earlier in December, another Punjabi driver Gurminder Singh Toor, 31, and Kirandeep Kaur, 26, from California were arrested at the same Coutts border crossing in Alberta for trying to smuggle almost 100 kg of cocaine in their semi-trailer. The value of cocaine was estimated to be $8 million.
The get-rich-quick mentality among a particular section of the Indo-Canadian community has tarnished the reputation of the whole community.
These Indo-Canadian smugglers need to be dealt with sternly and locked behind bars for a very long time.
