NEW DELHI: In another shameful incident for the national capital, a young Polish woman was drugged and raped by a taxi driver on Thursday night.
The 33-year-old Polish woman and her two-year-old daughter were offered a ride by the taxi driver from Mathura to Delhi on the midnight of January 2. Lots of foreign tourists coming to New Delhi travel to Mathura which is about 135 km away.
According to the FIR, the woman accepted the offer of the taxi driver. But soon she was sprayed with something by the cab driver and fell unconscious. It is only when she was dropped by the taxi driver at the Nizammudin railway station in south Delhi that she realized that she had been sexually assaulted by the cab driver.
Police said, “The victim told us that the cab driver had sprayed something on her face following which she fell unconscious and later when she came to her senses, she found herself on a bench outside the Nizammuddin railway station in South Delhi where she realised that she had been sexually assaulted. Her daughter near her was crying.”
Since most low-budget foreigners travelling to India stay in Paharganj near the New Delhi railway station, the Paharganj police has registered the FIR and begun the hunt for the taxi driver.
