Toronto Police make largest drug seizure worth $28.5 million

TORONTO: In the largest seizure of drugs in its history in a single day, Toronto Police have seized 189 kilograms of cocaine and 97 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

The contraband is valued more than $28.5 million.

A 29-year-old Toronto man – Devante Moores – has been arrested for this record drug haul.

According to police, Moores was arrested in the underground parking lot of a building, located in the area of Yonge Street and The Esplanade, on April 2. He was found in possession of 50 kilos of cocaine.

After further investigation, police conducted searches at the man’s unit in the same building and in his vehicle.

During the search, police found an additional 139 kilos of cocaine, 97 kilos of crystal methamphetamine and approximately $50,000 in cash were seized.

Devante Moores was charged with two counts of possession of cocaine and possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

He will appear in court, at Old City Hall, on April 25.
