CGI Toronto says it doesn’t charge for life certificate and cautioned people against paying to anyone for these services

TORONTO: Celebrating Diwali with the Indo-Canadian media at the Indian Consulate here on Monday, Consul General of India (CGI) Dinesh Bhatia said more officers will be available on every Friday to address issues faced by people.
Every Friday, anyone can meet the consul general without any appointment between 10 am and 12 noon.
The public meetings on every Friday were started by Bhatia after he took office one and a half years ago.
Bhatia said the CGI Toronto would welcome any feedback on any issue from the general public to improve services.
The consul general unveiled a schedule of camps in various places in Ontario and Manitoba from November 5 to distribute Life Certificate to Indian pensioners.
He said the consulate charges nothing for life certificate and cautioned people against paying to anyone for these services.
The consul general said Yoga Day celebrations and Indian Independence Day celebrations this year drew unprecedented response.
While over 10,000 people attended the day-long Yoga Day celebrations led by Baba Ramdev and Sister Shivani, a record 60,000 people joined this year’s India Day parade in downtown Toronto, Bhatia said.
He thanked the ethnic media for serving as a bridge between the consulate and the huge Indo-Canadian community.
This Diwali celebrations is to recognize the important role of the Indo-Canadian media, CGI Bhatia said.
