TORONTO: Indo-Canadian Dr Sajeev John, who is currently a professor at the University of Toronto, is the list of 125 prominent people who have been appointed to the Order of Canada by Governor General Julie Payette.
Dr John, who came to Canada from India when he was just four, has been honoured “for his revolutionary contributions to optical sciences, notably for his role in the development of new structures capable of harnessing the flow of light.”
Dr Sajeev John, who grew up in London in Ontario and later studied physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, is known for his work in Condensed Matter Physics, crystals, magnets, superconductors, semiconductors, according to science.ca.
He is credited with building the first materials that can make optical computing a reality.
