Kalyan Trivedi, 31, arrested for hit-and-run killing in Toronto

TORONTO: Indo-Canadian Kalyan Trivedi, 31, has been arrested for causing a fatal road collision which led to the death of a woman.

Trivedi was driving his white 2015 Audi R8 eastward at a very high speed on the Gardiner Expressway at 1.32 am on October 3 when he hit from behind a grey Nissan also going eastward.

The impact pushed the Nissan into the median guard rail, causing it to roll over. 

A 58-year-old woman named Norma Buendia was trapped inside the Nissan. She was pulled out and rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, she succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

The woman’s husband Roberto Carlos, 61, who was driving the Nissan, too was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After causing the crash, Trivedi fled from the scene on foot.

He was arrested on October 21 and has been charged with:

– Dangerous driving causing death.

– Dangerous driving causing serious injuries.

– Fleeing from the scene of accident causing death and injuries.
