TORONTO: Ammar Patel, an 18-year-old man from Toronto, was on Wednesday charged with first-degree murder of a nurse in London, Ontario, in September last year.

Lynda Marques, 30, was shot dead on September 10 when she arrived home and parked her car in the driveway of her northwest London home.

A hardened criminal, Patel was arrested in Toronto on November 23 in connection with another crime not related to the murder. He was arrested and charged in Operation Malibu which targeted drug trafficking in the  Thorncliffe Park neighbourhood in Toronto.

Patel and two other suspects drove from Toronto to London on September 9. On September 10, they drove to Marques’ home and fired shots into her car when it was parked in her driveway and fled.

The victim worked as a nurse in aesthetics.

Why she was gunned down is not known?

Patel is scheduled to appear again in court on June 15.
