MISSISSAUGA: A Mississauga lawyer has disappeared after cheating people to the tune of $7.5 million.

Peel Police are searching for Shahid Malik, 41, who allegedly defrauded a number of clients in real estate transactions, resulting in a loss of over 7.5 million dollars.

According to police, between June and December last year, numerous victims hired Malik, who runs Shahid Malik Law Office in Mississauga, to settle their real estate transactions.

Malik received more than $7.5 million in trust for real estate transactions to allow the victims to pay off their outstanding mortgages.

But the lawyer did not allocate these funds towards the outstanding mortgages despite requests by the victims.

A resident of Brampton, Malik is currently wanted for defrauding the public and breach of trust. Police has asked anyone knowing his whereabouts to contact them.

Police also suspect there may be more victims of this man and asked them to contact investigators at 905-453-2121, extension 3354.
