Police received a call at about 6.35 pm on January 25 that a man had been stabbed in the area of Roche Court in Mississauga.

On reaching the crime scene, police found the victim – Mohamed Ahmed, 41, from Mississauga – suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was rush to a trauma centre where he succumbed to his injuries.

On January 26, police arrested a 17-year-old male youth for the crime and charged him with first degree murder.

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a bail hearing on January 27.

Police believe this was an unprovoked attack on an innocent victim, and they are not looking for any further suspects.

“This was a random act of violence which has resulted in the tragic loss of one of our community.  Our service offers sincere condolences to Mohamed Ahmed’s family and loved ones and will continue to do everything we can to support them and our community as they grieve”, said Nick Milinovich, Deputy Chief of Investigative and Emergency Services.

The 17-year-old accused cannot be named because the Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits the release of the name of young criminals.
