BRAMPTON: Indo-Canadian real estate broker Harjit Jaswal has been nominated the Progressive Conservative Party candidate from Brampton Centre for the June 7 provincial elections.
Kaswal won the nomination vote over Sudeep Verma.
Nick Gahunia, who might have won the nomination, was disqualified from contesting by the party just before the nomination vote.
The party has given no reasons for Gahunia’s disqualification.
Jaswal, who came to Canada in 1998 and has been a realtor with the Sutton Group for the past 14 years, thanked his supporters for nominating him. “The real fight starts now. Let’s get it done,’’ he said.
Thank you to all of the supporters, volunteers, family and friends for nominating me as the candidate for #BramptonCentre… I could not have done it without you, the real fight starts now, let's get it done! #FordNation #PCPO #onpoli
